The problem
A developing highway design had to be reconciled with existing utility locations, incomplete or changing owner records, and each owner’s design criteria.
Chad’s actions and judgment
Chad analyzed 1,231 utility facilities, checking ownership, locations, records and as-builts. He coordinated electric and telecommunications information with utility owners and compared it with the developing highway design. As new records and design information arrived, he revised preliminary utility layouts and evaluated protect-in-place options.
The deliverable
More than 26,000 linear feet of preliminary overhead and underground electric relocation design in MicroStation, developed with TxDOT utility rules and owner standards.
What the record supports
The review considered both relocation and protection in place, with preliminary designs updated as owner records and the highway design developed.
The quantity describes preliminary design, not installed work. This historical contribution does not establish measured cost or schedule savings, or final project acceptance.
Story based on Chad’s documented professional résumé and historical project narrative. The assignment occurred before his Texas P.E. licensure.
